Indiana Mother’s Milk Bank Featured

The Indiana Mother’s Milk Bank welcomed us to their facility where we were lead on a tour by Executive Director Janice O’Rourke who explained how her organization processes the donations of mother’s milk. Four courageous, generous moms told their personal, passionate and heartfelt stories of why they donate their milk to the bank.  Two of them had lost their bables before they were born and were able to get past their grief while still lactating to contribute to the bank, so other moms and their newborn children could benefit from their contributions.

Nancy Marie Robertson, Associate Professor of History and Philanthropic Studies at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI), spoke with us about the important role women have played throughout the history of philanthropy in the United States.
